Two Men and Two Babies

2Men2BabiesIn 2003, Tony & Lee were one of the first Australia’s to enter into a commercial surrogacy arrangement to complete their family. Five years after a documentary was made about the experience, their little boy is all grown up, he has a sister Lucy, and there’s a sequel. Tony talks with A&A about how life with two children is all about night club openings, film premiers and pole dancing with a child on your hip.

Although I have not seen this I think that provided it is not one man being parents twice over and the other extended family not having grandchildren genetically, except for a specific life threatening medical reason, then this is maybe fine. How children of surrogates feel is another question that will probably be answered in time – I am sure there will be a range of feelings, but if the surrogate has been chosen carefully and lives up to the expectations of the “parents”, and no secrecy is ever a part of the situation, then things will go well for all. Communication is crucial in my view, the knowledege that all members of the extended family, surrogate, real and “adoptive”, will be there to support each other. Good luck to them.

i’m in year 12 and doing legal studies. we recently watched a movie on these two men and our entire class agreed that it does not matter on the gender or sexuality of your parents as both Tony and Lee make fantastic parents.
