Wicked cast reveal their Bogan side
14 August, 2008
We love the Australian version of Wicked and the incredible talent bringing it to life, but for all this talk of Oz, it’s not very Aussie. So when Amanda Harrison and Lucy Durack, who play the leads Elphaba and Glinda, joined us for a chat, we couldn’t help but ask them to read a special version of one of the songs “What is this Feeling?”.
We made the song … Bogan. Unadulterated Bogan. For international guests a Bogan is like a Chav, or White Trash, or Britney Spears, if you catch our drift.
GALINDA:
To me mum and me dad
ELPHABA
To the old cheese
GALINDA:
This chick here’s caused confusion
Who does she thinks she is
ELPHABA
But of course, I won’t start a scrag fight
GALINDA:
But of course, I’ll punch her lights out
ELPHABA
For I know that’s how you’d taught me to respond
Yes
This sheila’s messin’ with my head
For you see, this slapper is…
GALINDA:
Unusually and exceedingly stuffed in the head
And altogether freakin’ hard to describe
ELPHABA
Peroxide blonde
GALINDA:
What is this feeling,
So sudden and new?
ELPHABA
I felt the moment
I laid my fists on you;
GALINDA:
My beer is boiling;
ELPHABA
My mullet’s curling;
GALINDA:
My V8’s revving;
ELPHABA
What are you doing?
Don’t come the raw prawn with me
Won’t you look at meee
BOTH:
Oh Yes! Bogan
Unadulterated bogan
GALINDA:
It’s your face;
ELPHABA
Your voice;
GALINDA:
Your clothing;
ELPHABA
Let’s just say – it’s all bogan
Except your boobs which are clearly fake
Makes me just as mad as a cut snake
You’re a simple utter bogan
Your mum’s bum is as big as a small African nation
GALINDA
Well you were born at Carnegie train station
Your farts are so putrid, so strong!
Though I drink my beer down to the last
Doesn’t mean I won’t stick you with the glass
Both
And you will be …
Bogan…
Bogan
For forever …
Bogan
Truly deeply bogan you
You’re whole life long!
ELPHABA
Boo!
GALINDA:
AH!
